Rebirth Facial Serum

Ingredients: Jojoba Oil with Blue Lotus Absolute and Essential Oils of, Lime and Lemon

Recipe: Add the following drops to a 30ml dropper bottle:

• 5 drops of Lime
• 5 drop of Lemon
• 11 drops of Blue Water Lily Absolute Oil

Then top it up with 30ml of Jojoba Oil.

Story behind the serum... 

I found myself drawn one day to the Blue Water Lily Absolute Oil and was wondering how to use it. It's an expensive absolute, so not something I wanted to add to a soap, and its unusual scent and reputation for opening the third eye and enhancing spirituality made me think it'd be great as a facial serum. 

As well as its purported spiritual properties, research has shown that it exhibits promising wound-healing activity through multiple mechanisms, including enhancement of cell migration and regulation of key proteins involved in tissue regeneration. While I am not suggesting you'd want to put this onto damaged skin (I'd use lavender), facial skin is often subjected to all sorts of stresses, so this serum is designed to support its recovery. 

I wanted the Blue Water Lily scent to be the star of the serum so didn't want it diluted or confused. For that reason I decided to use Jojoba Oil as the carrier oil as it has almost no scent. My sense, however, was that the Blue Water Lily needed something to compliment it. To lift it, I decided to add some light and bright citrus oils. Research has shown that Lime is known for diminishing the appearance of fine lines and Lemon can help to reduce UV damage and oxidative stress, so, together these three are pretty powerful healers of the skin.

Given what this blend can do for the soul (empower and uplift) and the skin (heal and renew) the natural name for it was Rebirth. I recommend using it each day as part of a  healing practice to nourish both your skin and soul.
