If you have never used handmade soaps, you are in for a treat. Even the most basic of homemade soaps feels leaps and bounds better than store bought options.

If you are concerned about the use of synthetic chemicals in your body care, I must confess that the soaps I make use Sodium Hydroxide (also known as lye) which is made using electrolysis. I have contemplated whether this is an issue and decided that, just as I am happy to use an electric blanket in winter, I am happy to use NaOH created using electricity. However, if you wish avoid the lye, the African Black Soap only contains plants and is produced using elbow grease and the Nourishing Cleansing Balm contains only oils.
