Sweet Orange essential oil is virtually a must in a home-blenders' collection. As well as being antibacterial and antifungal, its sweet and uplifting aroma has been shown as effective at reducing anxiety even when diffused alone. Also, despite its uplifting and enlivening effects, it's very helpful for suffers of insomnia to help them relax at nighttime.
For me, though, like a tambourine played in a band, however, I think it really shines when it's used in a blend and there are so many blends that use Sweet Orange. A simple yet effective blend for insomnia combines Sweet Orange with Lavender to create a joyful and sleep-inducing aroma. It can be diffused in the bedroom, a few drops put onto a pillow or added to a carrier oil and massaged into the body before bed.
My favourite website for essential oils (the BBC Foods of essential oil recipes) lists many recipes using Sweet Orange. These recipes are not only good for the mind and body, but all are quite beautiful aromas. Something to note, however, when looking at these recipes is at least one major brand calls an oil Wild Orange when it is in fact Sweet Orange. I found this confusing because, when smelling it, I thought it was Sweet Orange. The mystery was solved when I noticed the botanical name on this brand's bottle - citrus sinensis - i.e. it is Sweet Orange!
The botanical name for Wild Orange is citrus indica and, despite searching high and low for it, I've never found any for wild oranges for sale, let alone an essential oil made from them. I also found this research which states that it was the first research to estimate citrus indica's essential oil composition - and that was in October 2024. So, suffice to say, if a recipe says it contains Wild Orange, but you can use Sweet Orange, the original most likely contained Sweet Orange anyway! On that note, here's a great recipe using it:
Christmas Bliss
We all know that, as well as bringing joy, Christmas frequently brings challenges! From exhausted grandparents resisting letting the younger generation taking over the hosting to tired toddlers who really needed to go to bed 20 minutes before dinner was served, many households need a blend to cleanse and uplift the atmosphere. This, in my opinion, is that blend!
9 drops Sweet Orange
7 drops Clove
3 drops Cinnamon Bark
3 drops Cinnamon Leaf
2 drops Eucalyptus
1 drops Rosemary
Diffuse it in a diffuser to create a clean and uplifting atmosphere that combines the joy and warmth of Christmas with the need to diffuse any potential conflicts!

Cute & Colourful Bottles
Our labels are inspired by the plants from which their contents are created. From berries to resins, flowers to leaves, they have a sketch of the part from which the essential oil is drawn.
To make it easier to find the one you need, we made the labels all different colours, again, inspired by the plants. The labels are paper (no microplastics!) and the bottles glass, so they can be reused or recycled.
We hope you find them as adorable as we do!
