Organic Jojoba Oil

Botanical Name: Simmondsia chinensis

Aroma: Odorless or (for sensitive noses!) a very faint earthy/nutty scent

Although referred to as an oil, Jojoba is actually a liquid plant wax with remarkably similar properties to our skin's own sebum. Given its similarity to sebum, it is easily absorbed by the skin and rarely causes an allergic reaction. When applied topically, it softens and moisturises the skin and decreases itching and flaking, making it a great base for serums.

Jojoba oil also has an almost indiscernible scent, making it an extremely useful carrier oil.for blends with subtle scents. If you have a blend whose aroma you want to take centre stage, jojoba oil is an excellent choice of carrier.

The final quality of jojoba oil that I particularly value is its longevity. I have seen estimates from suppliers ranging from several years to forever (a little optimistic in my view!). If stored in a cool, dark, air-tight container, jojoba oil will last for several years. So, if you are looking for an all-purpose oil for serums, massage oils and body balms, jojoba is a great choice.
