Organic Honeysuckle Absolute Oil

Honeysuckle is a scent I really love. For me, it is evocative of my childhood as one of my best friends had this growing over an archway in her garden. I have fond memories of smelling the flowers as I passed by the arch and would sometimes stop to smell them.

This oil is called an "absolute" as it is made using a different process from essential oils, which are generally made using steam distillation and sometimes cold pressing. If you want to know more about its process, you can read my article about it here. 

Absolute oils are typically heavier oils than essential oils meaning they are more viscous and have a stronger scent. This Honeysuckle absolute is no exception. A very small number of drops add a strong scent to oils, so you only need very little of it to have a bit impact.

Research into essential oils and absolutes typically looks at their impact on easily measured phenomena such as its antioxidant and wound healing abilities as well as testing traditional uses. However, in many ways this is simply too reductionist a way to try and understand any plant extract. They contain so many different molecules and people vary so much in their response to them, that, in my view, the only way to establish if it works for you is to try it.

I find many people love the warm, floral, heady scent it brings to any blend and find it allows them to deeply relax as though lying in a bed of flowers. I hope it does that for you!
