Ingredients: Green French Clay
Recipe: Simply add water, or one of our hydrosols for a pleasant fragrance, to create a smooth paste. Alternatively, try one of the other recipes below.
Perfect for: Gently and deeply cleansing skin
Cautions: None
How to use: French green clay is a fine pale green powder containing iron oxides, kelp, and other decomposed plant matter. It is harvested from natural deposits on the southern coast of France, sun-dried, and finely crushed.
It is a gentle exfoliator and combines a soothing effect with pore cleansing. It also absorbs excess sebum making it popular for oily skin and an acne prone skin type.
There are many ways to make a face mask using French Green Clay; here are some to try
Acne Management Mask
- 1½ tsp French Green Clay
- 1 tsp of purified water
- Mix the mask to create a smooth paste.
- Cleanse your skin prior to applying the mask.
- Using a face mask brush, apply the mask evenly to your face and neck.
- Remove the clay mask BEFORE it dries. To remove, gently splash water to rehydrate the clay. Then remove with water or face towel.
- Spray on some hydrosol and finish with a serum.
Weekly use of this mask can help to cleanse skin and control sebum levels to reduce acne.
Ultra Hydrating Mask
Ingredients
- 1½ tsp French Green Clay
- 1 tsp of plain organic yogurt
- 1 tsp of filtered water or lavender hydrosol
- ¼ tsp of lemon juice
How To Make
- Combine the clay and yoghurt to make a smooth paste.
- Add the water or hydrosol and lemon juice and mix to combine.
- Wash your face and then apply the paste gently using fingers of a fask mask brush.
- Leave it to rest until just before it dries (it will be a little longer than the recipe above without yoghurt).
- Rinse it off with tepid water.
Use this mask on a weekly basis to deeply cleanse while also hydrating dehydrated skin.
