This chest rub was inspired by two things - Vix (that popular chest rub) and a popular home remedy for coughs I discovered while living in New Zealand.
New Zealand can be a very damp and wet country and this means lots of coughs and colds. When my children were little, I heard of a remedy where you simply smear your child's chest with honey, put a piece of kitchen roll or material over the top and, miraculously the cold stops! I was quite amazed by this, so decided to try it myself. Much to my delight it worked!
Naturally, not everyone is happy to smear their chest in honey for a multitude of reasons and, sometimes, you want some vapours to assist with the related nasal congestion. Hence this balm was born. I combined honey, beeswax, arnice and rosehip oils and heated it. Once it had all blended, I then let it cool and added Spike Lavender, Ravensara and Eucalyptus essential oils. The result is a pocket-sized balm that can help support your body while you shake of a cold.
